Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold is a network management application that makes it easy to locate devices on a network, monitor them, report on them and receive alerts and notifications on them. Monitor wired and wireless (in the Premium edition) devices, systems and applications and get complete visibility into network performance with a single, unified dashboard. Take advantage of a variety of features to simplify network management such as network mapping which automatically documents your network and provides a visual diagram of the network topology. Use the powerful alerting and notification system that can be based on any system monitor and can be configured to send emails, SMS, pop-ups and more when an alert occurs.

Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold comes in multiple editions to match your requirements and budget. WhatsUp Gold Standard, designed for small and medium businesses, provides comprehensive discovery and mapping capabilities to find every device on your network. The Standard edition supports the SNMP v1/2/3 protocols. The Premium edition comes with wireless device monitoring (for Cisco and Aruba wireless LAN controllers), enhanced reporting capabilities and support for the WMI protocol. The Distributed edition, designed for businesses with multiple separate sites, comes with the functionality to monitor remote devices. Additionally there is a MSP Edition for service providers and an Enterprise Suite edition.

What's new in WhatsUp Gold v16?

Wireless Infrastructure Management included (WhatsUp Gold Premium)

Allow monitoring of wireless infrastructure performance historically or in real time. It supports Wireless LAN controllers from Cisco and Aruba hardware vendors and allows you to receive alerts for excessive bandwidth consumption, signal strength degradation and access point saturation. Be vigilant of unauthorised activity on your wireless network and be alerted of rogue wireless access points. Know where your wireless users are at all times and how much bandwidth they consume on their devices with real-time alerts and scheduled reports.

Wireless features are available in WhatsUp Gold Premium.

Integrated layer 2 discovery, mapping, inventory and asset tracking

You no longer need to buy a separate networking mapping and asset tracking tool. Get rich functionality for Layer 2 discovery and mapping, port-to-port connectivity information, inventory and asset tracking directly in the WhatsUp Gold web console.

WhatsUp Gold scalability pollers and distributed polling architecture

WhatsUp Gold now supports up to 20,000 devices and 100,000 monitors per WhatsUp Gold server. So no matter what your size, WhatsUp Gold gives you a single pane of glass view of your entire infrastructure.

PowerShell/.NET scripting support for monitoring and alerting

New PowerShell/.NET support makes it easy to track your Active Directory, Exchange, SQL and other Windows services with direct access to Windows/.NET management methods and functions.

Support for formatted WMI counters and SQL query performance monitors

New SQL query and WMI formatted monitors enable administrators to customise their monitoring for specific business-critical data.

Alert Center thresholds based on average CPU across multi-CPU systems

Stay ahead of CPU-related device performance problems by evaluating average CPU consumption across the device rather than by individual CPU.

WhatsUp Gold WhatsConfigured (optional plug-in)

This configuration management plug-in enables effective management of one of the most critical assets on your network¿device configurations. It automates the key configuration and change management tasks required to backup, compare, and upload configuration files for networking devices. WhatsConfigured maintains and controls configuration files and alerts when any configuration changes are detected.

WhatsUp Gold Flow Monitor (optional plug-in)

Leverages Cisco NetFlow, sFlow, J-Flow, and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) data from switches, routers, and Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA) to gather, analyse, report and alert on LAN/WAN network traffic patterns and bandwidth utilisation in real-time. It highlights not only overall utilisation for the LAN/WAN, specific devices, or interfaces; it also indicates users, applications, and protocols that are consuming abnormal amounts of bandwidth, giving you detailed information to assess network quality of service and quickly resolve traffic bottlenecks. Comprehensive reporting takes the raw real-time network traffic data from routers and switches and presents you with useful information to understand trends, utilisation, and where network bandwidth is consumed.
