New Features in CA ARCserve Backup D2D r16.5
Introduces support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8:
New features in CA ARCserve D2D r16
Integrated access to cloud storage
- Works with the Windows Resilient File System (ReFS).
- Support for Hyper-V 3.0 and single-pass backups of all Hyper-V VMs.
- Protect NTFS Deduplicated primary volumes using either optimised or non-optimised backup methods and still achieve granular file-level recovery.
- Take advantage of more flexible and resilient storage virtualisation capabilities with Windows Storage Space.
- Application-consistent backup and restore for Exchange 2013 databases.
- Restore data between uEFI and BIOS and vice-versa.
- Shorten backup time with catalog-less backup. For faster search and recovery, users can run ad-hoc catalog creation jobs at any time.
- CA ARCserve Central Virtual Standby now supports 'remote standby' across a Wide Area Network through integration with CA ARCserve Replication.
- Plus more...
Integrated access to Windows Azure storage and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) via the CA ARCserve D2D user interface to enable access to cloud storage as a file copy or archive destination. Find out more about cloud integration in the technical guide available for download in the Documents & Downloads section.
Enables users to optimise the amount of resources that are allocated to conduct each disk-to-disk backup.
Granular mail recovery
Provides recovery of individual Microsoft Exchange emails, attachments, files and folders from a single-pass backup.
Use CA ARCserve D2D with infinite, incremental snapshot backup and bare-metal restore for your desktop or laptop with the same easy-to-use product that protects your corporate servers.
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)-128, AES-192 and AES-256 encryption ensures the privacy of your data, no matter where it is stored.
Windows Explorer shell integration
Navigate recovery points directly from Windows Explorer. Copy and paste, drag and drop, scan, and open files just as you¿re accustomed to doing with Windows Explorer.
Download and install the latest updates, hot fixes and service packs easily from within the CA ARCserve D2D console.
CA ARCserve Central Protection Manager
Provides a single web-based console for a centralised view and management of all servers and workstations protected by CA ARCserve D2D. It includes automated Active Directory discovery, remote deployment, simplified policy-based administration, Storage Resource Manager (SRM) reporting, status, grouping, search and restore, basic workflow and event logging.
CA ARCserve Central Reporting
Provides a centralised view, administration and reporting on all devices, settings and policies running on-premise and off-premise that are protected by CA ARCserve Backup and CA ARCserve D2D. It gives detailed reports, as well as a rollup Dashboard report view, so you can easily understand what is happening across your environment.
CA ARCserve Central Host-based VM backup
Uses a single copy of CA ARCserve D2D to protect a single VMware host environment, performing backup of all VMs via a single-pass backup without having to install CA ARCserve D2D inside each VM. It uses the VMware vSphere¿ Changed Block Tracking (CBT) feature to capture the changes since the last backup and enables recovery of the entire virtual guest, or granular recovery of files and folders from each VM. It can also restore supported applications running within a VM.
CA ARCserve Central Virtual Standby
Makes CA ARCserve D2D backups available to run like regular VMware Virtual Machine Disk (VMDK) or Microsoft Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) virtual servers. It automatically pre-registers each recovery point with the hypervisor for immediate recovery as a VM if a system outage occurs. In addition, it enables physical-to-virtual (P2V) and virtual-to-virtual (V2V) migration. Copies of VMs can be used for pre-fiight deployment, software installations and upgrade testing when desired.
Block Level Infinite Incremental Backup
Like deduplication, this patent-pending technology uses less storage space, performs backups faster and puts less of a load on your production servers. Disk-to-disk backups are based on CA¿s block-level I2 Technology that has been designed to intelligently manage backing up only blocks of data that have changed since the last backup and presenting a consolidated point-in-time view of the protected volume for multiple recovery types.
Protection for Virtual Servers
Provides a single user interface to help protect virtual servers as well as physical servers, saving training time and simplifying operations. Block-level I2 Technology helps reduce backup time, storage space, network usage, workload on the production servers and recovery time for virtualised servers.
Single Snapshot Backup with Four Restore Types
Provides the ability to rapidly restore files, volumes, databases, or the entire system to any server in both physical and virtual environments from a single pass backup. One snapshot helps ensure recovery of the data in the most efficient manner.
Bare Metal Recovery to Dissimilar Hardware
Bare Metal Restore offers a lightning-fast way to recover a crashed server to the same or dissimilar hardware. It simply paints the picture of the original drive back onto the new drive and restarts the system ¿ reducing a process that can potentially take as long as 36 hours to just minutes.
Dynamic Documentation with Web 2.0 Interface
Provides documentation updates proactively delivered to your desktop. Fast and easy access to the latest product documentation pushed to you via the CA ARCserve D2D User Interface.
Point-In-Time Backup View
Provides a full point-in-time view of the disk for rapid recovery of files, folders, volumes and databases.
High Frequency Backups
New I2 Technology provides the ability to perform backups every 15 minutes for greater levels of protection and improved Recovery Point Objectives.
End User Search and Restore
Find and recover file- and folder-level items from user data sets without administrator intervention.
Use with CA ARCserve Backup
Enables migration of the CA ARCserve D2D backup files to tape using CA ARCserve Backup for off-site long-term retention.
Use with CA ARCserve Replication and High Availability
Provides the ability to replicate CA ARCserve D2D backup images to a remote location for an additional level of protection or rapid recovery in the event of a data center outage.
