Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows XP Embedded 5.1 offers advance defense against hackers and worms, Trojan horses, viruses, and other malicious code attacking and infecting embedded devices based on Windows XP Embedded platforms.
These specialised devices, such as POS terminals, self-service kiosks, ATMs, thin clients, and medical devices often have little or no protection against today’s increasing threats. The Symantec solution provides a multilayered security approach, including antivirus, an application-centric firewall, application control, intrusion prevention and detection, and policy enforcement, which protects Windows XP Embedded or WEPOS devices from being compromised by either inbound or outbound traffic.

Endpoint Protection for XP Windows Embedded provides multi-layered security including application-centric firewall, application-control, intrusion prevention and detection, antivirus, and centralised management for comprehensive Windows XP Embedded and WEPOS device protection.
Antivirus
Endpoint Protection for Windows XP Embedded antivirus engine applies patterns of known malware to all files and acts as an additional layer of defense. All files accessed, downloaded or uploaded are analysed against signatures of known attacks, effectively protecting the embedded device.
Firewall
Endpoint Protection for Windows XP Embedded incorporates an application-centric firewall that protects embedded devices, provides stateful firewall, applies rule-based security policy, and controls application usage. It locks down the network communication of the embedded device to only the required applications and network traffic, ensuring that no malicious application can send data to or from the embedded device.
Intrusion Prevention and Intrusion Detection
Endpoint Protection for Windows XP Embedded intrusion prevention engine applies patterns of known attacks to all incoming and outgoing traffic as a second layer of defense. Its unique application-based approach to intrusion prevention uses application layer information and deep-packet inspection to more effectively identify and block known and unknown attacks. All data entering or exiting the embedded device is analysed against signatures of known attacks and behavioral patterns of unknown attacks, effectively protecting the embedded device.
Centralised Management Console
Paramount to the efficient operation of any solution is an enterprise-class management console. The Symantec Policy Manager provides a Java-based console to centrally create, deploy, manage, and report agent activity and is scalable to fit the most demanding environments in the world.
Target Designer Integration
Target Designer is the primary authoring tool for Microsoft Windows XP Embedded. With Target Designer, you can build the Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows XP Embedded Agent component into the Windows XP Embedded image.
