What's new in Backup Exec 2010 for Windows SBS
New Deduplication Option
- Deduplication reduces storage costs, sizes and time. Any data that is identified as being duplicated is only stored once. Depending on the organisational structure of your systems and data, this can dramatically reduce storage sizes
- Client deduplication deduplicates data at source or on a remote server
- Media server deduplication deduplicates data on a media server
- Appliance deduplication integrates with OpenStorage deduplication appliances
- Deduplicated backup set copy deduplicates data from remote offices to headquarters
New Archiving Options
- Powered by Symantec Enterprise vault, the new unified archiving option for file servers and Exchange servers archives data from the backup copy rather than from the source. This helps to consolidate data and reduce redundant data from the File/Exchange server source. Additionally, system administrators can index the data and set retention policies.
