With Backup Exec you can use disk or tape backup to protect file systems on Windows, VMware, Hyper-V, Linux and Mac environments. Licensing

Backup Exec can be licenced in a variety of ways depending on your infrastructure:

• Backup Exec - licenced per media server with additional agents/options purchasable separately.
• Backup Exec capacity licensing (per TB) - licenced and priced per up-front TB of data. You can deploy an unlimited number of Backup Exec and Backup Exec Agents and Option licences to protect any environment. Ideal if you have a large number of servers to protect.
• Backup Exec Small Business Edition - provides backup and recovery protection for one server including application protection for SQL, Exchange, Hyper-V, SharePoint and Active Directory. Each licence can be expanded to support up to three servers (two remote servers) by purchasing an additional Agent for Windows for Small Business Server, Agent for Linux or Agent for Mac.
• Backup Exec V-Ray edition - Backs up virtual environments only and is licenced per socket. Includes an unlimited number of Agents for VMware and Hyper-V, Agents for Applications and Databases and Data Deduplication Option licences.
