Microsoft Visio 2010 is an advanced drawing and diagramming tool for visualising complex data. Create data-driven visualisations, enhance business process management and share diagrams on the Web. Visio comes with a wide range of ready-to-use templates including business process flowcharts, network diagrams, workflow diagrams, database models, software diagrams and more so you can get started straight away. New features in Visio 2010 include a completely new interface which uses the Office Ribbon UI, new alignment options to clean up your existing diagrams and flow charts, new styling and live preview options and much more.
Visio 2010 is now available in three different editions. The Standard edition provides the powerful diagramming functionality, the Professional edition adds data connectivity, support for Visio Services and additional business and technical templates whilst the Premium edition contains all the features in the other additions and adds workflow and process management features.
New Features
New interface
Visio 2010 introduces the new Ribbon user interface that groups Visio functions by task. This helps you to improve productivity when creating diagrams and to accomplish tasks more efficiently. With the Ribbon you can access your most commonly used functions directly from the Quick Access Toolbar. And the new Backstage view helps provide easy and logical access to functions required when managing your Visio documents and metadata.
Also new is a redesigned Shapes Window which can now be collapsed or expanded, supports re-ordering of shapes and more. The new quick shapes mini-toolbar represents a subset of shapes commonly used within a given stencil and allows you to quickly click and AutoConnect a new shape.
New automatic alignment features
More easily add and align shapes within your diagrams with the new 'Auto Align & Space' command. It helps to tidy up your diagram whilst preserving the basic layout structure.
New styling options
Apply backgrounds, borders and titles to your diagrams. Upon applying a background you can then apply themes that work best with that background to your shapes. Themes can now be applied with one click and can be previewed using 'live preview', by hovering over each theme thumbnail in the gallery before applying it.
ShapeSheet IntelliSense
ShapeSheet lets you write formulas that can recalculate shapes. Visio 2010 now supports intellisense when writing these formulas and supports automatic lookup and auto-complete.
Improved Visio Services support
You can now automatically refresh data/diagrams in Visio diagrams that are hosted on Visio Services.

Visio Standard 2010

With new features such as Quick Shapes, Auto Align and Space and an improved user interface, you can create professional diagrams more easily than ever before.
Visio Professional 2010
Ideal for technical drawings and business intelligence, Visio Professional can connect to a range of data sources and can publish diagrams to Visio Services. Visio Professional enables you to create powerful dashboards, perform graphical business intelligence with drill-down capabilities in Pivot Diagrams, can work with CAD files and comes with a range of additional diagram types such as network diagrams, wireframe diagrams and software and database diagrams.
Visio Premium 2010
A new edition available in the 2010 range, Visio Premium includes all the features of Visio Professional 2010 and adds advanced workflow and process management features with design templates for SharePoint workflows, Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) and Six Sigma. Visio Premium supports subprocesses to break up larger processes into smaller, more manageable pieces, diagrams can be validated to ensure they're correctly constructed and can be published via SharePoint and Visio Services to a process repository for central storage.
