Microsoft Office Access 2010 provides a powerful set of tools that allow you to quickly start tracking, reporting, and sharing information. Access can work with many data sources, including Microsoft SQL Server and allows you to rapidly create attractive and functional database applications without requiring deep technical knowledge. What's more, you can quickly create and adapt applications and reports to meet changing business needs. Access also includes a suite of prebuilt applications in the form of templates that you can use to get started quickly.
New Features
Access 2010 introduces support for Web databases so users can use your database in a browser, you can now export data to a .PDF file or to an .XPS file, you can connect to Web services as an external data source and you can use new SQL Server 2008 data types such as date, time, geography and geometry, along with other new features.
Anywhere Access
New support for Web databases means your users can more easily view your database in their browser. Web users can open forms and run reports via their browser.
Enhanced Data Formatting
With improved conditional formatting it's easier to identify data and with new support for data bars on individual cells, you can more easily track trends and gain insights.
New templates and templating functionality
Access new pre-built templates available on Office Online or download community-submitted templates and customise them to your needs. Now you can even save frequently used Access objects and fields and use them across multiple databases.
New IntelliSense
IntelliSense helps provide quick info and auto-completion when building expressions in the Expression Builder.
Easier macro creation
A new Macro Designer in Access 2010 makes it easier to automate database logic and increase code maintainability. You can even extend macros to SharePoint Web databases and other web applications that update your data tables.
Export to PDF and XPS
Now you can export your data to PDF and XPS file formats without requiring installation of any add-ins.
Web Service Support
Create a linked table to get data from a Web service - all you need is a Web service definition file.
New Backstage View
The new Backstage view available from the Office Ribbon UI provides logical access to functions related to the maintenance and administration of your database. It's completely extensible so Office developers can add functionality that integrates with your own back-office systems.
