Product Information

Intel VTune Amplifier XE is threading and performance profiling software for C/C++ and Fortran developers who need to understand serial and parallel behavior to improve performance and scalability. The next generation of Intel VTune Performance Analyzer, Intel VTune Amplifier XE is part of Intel Parallel Studio XE, the all-in-one parallel processing software for serial and parallel C/C++ applications.

As a software performance analyser of Windows and Linux application behavior, Intel VTune Amplifier XE removes the guesswork by providing quick access to scaling information for faster and improved decision making. Fine-tune for optimal performance, ensuring cores are fully exploited and new processor capabilities are supported to the fullest.

Features

Easy and quick to use

VTune Amplifer XE features a number of new pre-defined performance profiling experiments for quickly getting detailed profiling information without having to know microarchitectural details.

Powerful analysis

After profiling, take advantage of a number of new analysis features such as the timeline, filtering and frame analysis to turn data into actionable information.

Works on threaded and non-threaded code

Identify threads and synchronisation objects that can impact performance and see the distribution of work to threads and identify load imbalances.

Call graph profiling

Determines calling sequences and graphically displays the critical path, allowing you to see which functions took the most time to process or were blocked the longest.

Counter monitor

Quickly identify system level performance issues using the Counter Monitor to track system activity and resource consumption during runtime.

Low overhead

Reduce the performance cost of profiling by using VTune Amplifer XE to make data collection faster and results more accurate.

Works with standard builds

Use your normal production build with symbols from your normal compiler or assembler. No special debug builds are required.

Works with C++, Fortran, assemly and more!

VTune Amplifer XE supports compilers from any vendor that follow platform standards including Microsoft, GCC and Intel.

High compatibility

Choose either the Windows or Linux version for profiling on Windows 7, Vista, XP, Windows Server, RHEL, Fedora and SUSE. The Windows version integrates into Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010 or can be run standalone.

No root privileges required for Linux version

VTune Amplifer XE for Linux does not require root privileges for basic performance security analysis.

Works on both Intel and non-Intel processors

Many of VTune Amplifer XE's features work on both Intel and other compatible processors. Results can be saved and analysed on any compatible processor but some on-chip performance monitoring features do require a genuine Intel processor for data collection.
