Product Information

Intel Parallel Studio provides advanced parallelism functionality to C/C++ developers using Microsoft Visual Studio. With tools to aid in the designing, coding, debugging and tuning of applications, developers can easily create parallel programmes that improve performance by taking advantage of multi-core processors. Intel Parallel Studio is also compatible with other parallel programming libraries and API standards including Intel’s own Threading Building Blocks and Integrated Performance Primitives libraries (both included within Parallel Studio).

Intel Parallel Studio is the suite of products designed to simplify the creation of parallel applications through the entire development cycle (the individual products are also available separately):

  • Intel Parallel Composer – Creates applications with a C/C++ compiler and advanced threaded libraries including Intel Threading Building Blocks and Intel Integrated Performance Primitives.
  • Intel Parallel Inspector – Checks application reliability with proactive parallel memory and threading error checking.
  • Intel Parallel Amplifier – Finds bottlenecks and tune applications for scalable multi-core performance.

Intel Parallel Studio makes creating parallel applications easier and more viable than ever before.

New in Intel Parallel Studio SP1

Now available, Intel Parallel Studio SP1 provides the following updates to Intel Parallel Studio:

  • Support for Windows 7
  • Command line support for Parallel Inspector to aid in testing automation and reduced false positives when analysing TBB based applications
  • Intel Parallel Composer now includes Intel Threading Building Blocks 2.2 Update 1
  • Numerous bug fixes

Features

Intel Parallel Composer

Intel Parallel Composer builds applications for multi-core systems. It provides full integration with Visual Studio, a parallel debugger extension and libraries of optimised parallel functions totalling thousands of lines of code.

  • Build using Intel C++ Compilers for 32 bit processors – a cross-compiler to create 64 bit applications on 32 bit systems and a native 64-bit compiler.
  • Debug your application using Intel Parallel Debugger Extension – which integrates with the standard Visual Studio debugger.
  • Intel Parallel Composer includes other Intel libraries: Intel Integrated Performance Primitives – provides a set of functions for thread applications in engineering, financial, digital media, data processing and mathematics sectors. Intel Threading Building Blocks – provides a C++ template library that abstracts threads to tasks to create reliable, portable and scalable parallel applications.

Intel Parallel Inspector

Intel Parallel Inspector is an easy to use, fast and comprehensive multithreading error checking tool. Parallel Inspector can spot threading and memory errors and also provides help on how to ensure application reliability.

  • Find thread related errors such as deadlocks and data races
  • Find memory errors such as memory leaks and corruption

Intel Parallel Amplifier

Intel Parallel Amplifier allows developers to quickly find multi-core performance bottlenecks without requiring knowledge of the assembly code or the processor architecture. The analysis of the applications performance can provide scaling information allowing for faster and improved decision making.

  • Find the application ‘hot spots’ and then drill down to the source code
  • Tune parallel applications for scalable performance using concurrency analysis. Concurrency analysis can be used to view the utilisation of multiple cores.
  • Use locks & waits analysis to find critical waits that limit parallel performance
  • Compare with previous results and see what’s changed

Intel Parallel Studio

Contains Intel Parallel Composer, Intel Parallel Inspector and Intel Parallel Amplifier, providing comprehensive parallel programming capabilities for Microsoft Visual Studio.
