Zip IFilter lets you index content of ZIP archive files. It extends Microsoft Indexing Service to extract all valuable information from the files stored inside ZIP archive. This information includes archived directory names, list of the archived files, their metadata and content. Out of the box Zip IFilter indexes archived Microsoft Office, HTML and plain text files. It is fully compatible with other IFilter components. Its functionality can be further extended by installing IFilters from IFilterShop or other providers. Zip IFilter also supports recursive indexing of ZIP archives included in the archive. Zip IFilter indexes archives created with any compression program that uses PKWARE compression format such as WinZip or PKZIP. Zip IFilter supports Internet Information Server, SharePoint Portal Server, Windows SharePoint Services (WSS), Site Server, Exchange, SQL Server and all other products based on Microsoft Search technology. When installed on Windows desktop operating systems Zip IFilter seamlessly integrates with MSN Desktop Search, Indexing Service and Windows File Search.
