GFI MailEssentials Online provides a cloud-based service for complete email security. It includes spam and virus protection for both inbound and outbound emails and integrated continuity capabilities with an always-on backup mail service. As a hosted service, it requires no hardware or software to be downloaded or maintained, is compatible with any email system and can be implemented in minutes with a simple MX record change.

Fast and effective
MailEssentials Online scans email in a fraction of a second using a range of technologies including message signature analysis, authenticity checks, an extensive heuristic rule set and a continually evolving database of blacklisted URLs, network addresses, mail servers and other identifying elements known to be used for phishing and spam email.
Virus protection
MailEssentials Online includes a traditional signature-based antivirus engine, pattern-based zero-hour virus detection plus GFI VIPRE Antivirus' virtualisation-based threat recognition technology which tests suspicious files in a safe virtual environment.
Directory harvest and DoS (Denial of Service) attack prevention
Filtering email in the cloud before it reaches your network helps to protect against directory harvesting, large-scale spam runs, DoS attacks and other threats - plus it reduces your bandwidth usage too!
Email continuity
MailEssentials Online lets you continue to access and send emails in the event of a network outage or on-premise mail server failure. The continuity feature queues up email and provides access to it from the web-based control panel.
Inbound and outbound filtering
Scan all inbound and outbound emails and attachments. Optionally add configurable disclaimers or signatures to your outbound messages.
Configurable spam filtering
Administrators can set the spam filtering policies for a given user or enable users to configure their own spam filtering policies.
Web-based control panel
The easy-to-use web-based control panel enables administrators to manage email security and allows users to access quarantined messages as well as any queued messages in the event of a mail server failure.
Individual junk mail quarantines and summary
Spam messages get retained in quarantine which can be accessed through a web browser at any time. Administrators and/or users get an automatically emailed summary of detected spam and can release any potential false positives. The summary messages can be scheduled as often as 3 times a day or as infrequently as once a week.
Logging and search
Administrators can search for messages and access detailed delivery logs for all recent inbound/outbound email. Log details include message envelope details, message headers, message size, the receiving server and the exact response from that server to help with diagnostics.
