What's new in DB Optimizer XE2?

Enhanced SQL Visual Tuning (VST) Diagrams

Visual SQL Tuning (VST) diagrams have been enhanced to include table statistics. The VST diagram now can display table sizes, the sizes of the joins between tables in the query, and the percentage of rows returned, on every table that has a predicate filter. These statistics allow the developer to immediately see any bottlenecks or potential issues as well as to give a good indication as to the best execution plan for the query.

Profiling Repository

Stream profiling data into a central repository, for future reference or collaboration.

Stored Procedure Insight

When profiling stored procedures, you can now see the workload incurred by the procedure, and also drill inside the procedure to view the resource usage for specific SQL statements (SQL Server and Sybase).

SQL Tuning

• The color-coded Index Analysis feature shows indexes that are used (green), not used (blue), or missing (orange) and offers indexing recommendations for optimum performance.
