Product Information
CA ERwin Data Modeler for Microsoft SQL Azure provides a graphical environment that simplifies the design and modification of cloud-based SQL Azure databases and can also be used to help with the migration of an on-premise database (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 etc.) to SQL Azure. It can be used as a standalone version to manage MS SQL Azure only or it can be used as an add-on to an existing edition of CA ERwin Data Modeler to visualise data from multiple data sources - whether on-premise or in the Cloud.
Features
Visualisation of complex data structures - a simple, graphic display helps to visualise complex database structures in an easy-to-manage interface.
Design layer architecture - offers unique flexibility to create multiple model layers, from logical to physical, to even higher-level models. Users can create logical and physical models that are completely separate or create logical and physical models that are linked, allowing you to choose the implementation style best suited to your needs.
Standards definition - CA ERwin supports the definition and maintenance of standards through reusable model templates, the Domain Editor, the Naming Standards Editor and the Datatype Standards Editor.
Large model management - manage large enterprise-level models through subject areas and diagrams. These graphical views and model visualisations facilitate information exchange and collaboration among the different stakeholders in an organisation. In addition, advanced features such as auto-layout, on-demand UI components, and “bird’s-eye' navigation allow you to easily visualise large models.
Complete compare - automates complete bidirectional synchronisation of models, scripts and databases, compares one item with the other, displays any differences and permits bidirectional selective update. If model changes are targeted for a database, CA ERwin can automatically generate a database ALTER script, as desired.
Database design generation - create database designs directly from visual models. The database support includes optimised referential integrity trigger templates and a rich cross-database macro language, allowing modelers to customise triggers, scripts and stored procedures.
Data warehouse and data mart design - CA ERwin supports data warehousing-specific modeling techniques (such as Star Schema and Snowflake dimensional modeling), optimising the data warehouse for your performance and analysis needs. It also captures and documents a rich set of information about the warehouse including data sources, transformation logic and data management rules.
“Bulk' metadata editing - the Bulk Editor enables you to perform cross-object, multi-instance metadata updates in a single spreadsheet-like interface allowing for bulk updates, exports to Excel and metadata queries.
Reporting and printing - generate out-of-the-box reports or create your own and export them to a range of formats including HTML, PDF, RTF and TXT. A generic ODBC interface is available if you have your own existing reporting solution.
Integration and metadata exchange with other tools - integrate CA ERwin with other projects and tools including BI tools, MDM hubs, other data modelling tools, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools and UML tools.
