ViewCompanion is a powerful application for viewing and printing HPGL and HPGL/2 files generated by your CAD program or plotter driver. The HP-RTL format is also supported, so HPGL/2 files with embedded pictures will be shown correctly.
One of the major features in ViewCompanion is the ability to convert the viewed file into another format. ViewCompanion can currently convert to the following formats:
- Adobe Postscript™
- Adobe PDF
- AutoDesk DWF
- AutoDesk DXF
- CALS Group 4 Raster
- Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM)
- Gerber RS-274X
- JPEG Raster
- Paintbrush PCX (PCX)
- Portable Network Graphics (PNG)
- TIFF Raster
- Windows Bitmap (BMP)
- Windows Enhanced Metafile (EMF)
- Windows Metafile (WMF)
Both Autodesk Drawing Web Format (DWF) and Adobe PDF are very useful and popular formats for distributing drawings on the Internet. You can also use ViewCompanion to convert any HPGL file to AutoDesk DXF format which you can read in any major CAD application, eg: Autodesk AutoCAD.
ViewCompanion gives you advanced functions for zooming and panning, so that you can view your plot files fast and accurate, before actually plotting them. The program also supports Microsoft's IntelliMouse for zooming and panning operations.
The Pro version also allows you to add markups to the loaded file. Among the supported markup elements you will find rectangles, ellipses, polygons, text, arrows and images. Markup elements will be stored in a separate file. The original file is not changed. |
Please note that ViewCompanion is available in two different editions: Standard and Pro.
The difference between the Standard and Pro version is as follows:
- The Pro version have a feature called markup. This feature allows you to add text, lines, arrows etc (annotation/commenting) to the viewed file.
- The Pro version can also view, convert, print and markup TIFF, CALS, JPEG, BMP and PNG file formats. (Standard only handles HPGL/2,HPGL and HPRTL files).
