Living Doc is a unique documentation tool for your ASP projects. Unique in that it automatically creates the documentation for an entire project.

Living Doc also scans your MS SQL Server for tables, stored procedures, SQL functions and triggers. And if your project uses COM objects written in Visual Basic it scans that code also.

Hyperlinked information
One of the features of Living Doc is how the documentation is presented. Every "nugget" of information about your project is hyperlinked. Click on an ASP page and you see which stored procedures and tables it uses. Click on one of those procedures and you see the detailed information about that procedure, for example which tables it uses. Click on one of the tables listed and you'll be shown a page with the documentation for that table.

Minimum System Requirements
SQL Server 7/2000 any edition

Please Note
  • Additional scanners are only available for the Server Edition as the eLite version is one product with both components bundled
  • Living Doc eLite and Living Doc Server Edition requires that MS SQL Server 7.0 or MS SQL Server 2000 is available to use as a repository.
  • The documentation database (repository) may only be installed on one server per license
  • The HTML Help file format is developed by Microsoft and uses the underlying technology of Internet Explorer. However, you don't actually view the contents with Internet Explorer, but with another program. HTML Help files can only be viewed on computers that use Windows. Thus, it cannot be viewed on Macintosh computers

  • Living Doc Server Edition can create a comprehensive MS Word document to easily print your documentation.

Living Doc Server Edition consists of two parts, a repository and add-on scanners for the number of users per team.

    Compare snapshots
Living Doc Server edition lets you take what we call "snapshots" of your project. A snapshot is a complete documentation of how your project looked at that specific time.

You can take snapshots of your project as often as you want. One tip is to add the Living Doc scanner to the Scheduled Tasks. This makes it possible for the system to automatically take a snapshot each day or once a week.

You can compare two snapshots with each other and see what has changed in the project between the two snapshots. Perfect for error handling ("we know the project was working fine at snapshot X, let's compare that with the current snapshot")

For each developer that requires access to documenting scanner you will require a client scanner licence.
