BizTalk Server 2006 R2 is Microsoft's premiere server for building solutions for business process and integration. BizTalk Server 2006, the fourth major version of the product, builds on the innovation and success introduced by the previous four versions—BizTalk Server versions 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006.

BizTalk Server 2006 R2 puts real-time, end to end supply chain management within reach of every customer, spanning systems, people and processes, both within and across organizational boundaries. BizTalk Server 2006 R2 empowers customers to make informed business decisions with real-time data from geographically dispersed, yet integrated systems – putting you one step ahead of the competition.


Microsoft has launched the BizTalk Adapter Pack 1.0, a set of adapters based on the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) programming model. The BizTalk Adapter Pack provides a single solution to easily and securely connect to Line of Business (LOB) data from any custom-developed .NET application, SQL Server–based business intelligence solution, or Office Business Application (OBA).

Included in the BizTalk Adapter Pack 1.0

SAP
Supports execution of BAPIs, RFCs, and tRFCs, data exchange using IDOCs, and receiving events from SAP with a generic RFC Server. The BizTalk SAP Adapter has received "Certified for SAP NetWeaver" status from SAP.

Siebel eBusiness Applications
Provides access to Siebel eBusiness Applications via Business Objects, Business Components, and Business Services.

Oracle Databases
Provides access to Oracle Database tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and PL/SQL packages. Timed polling is also provided, allowing applications to periodically look for changes in the database. This adapter is based on ADO.NET.

WCF LOB Adapter SDK
Provides a simple programming model for developing adapters that are based on Windows Communication Foundation. This is a separate download available to everyone using the .NET Framework 3.0.

BizTalk Server 2006 R2 includes new capabilities that address core challenges found in key vertical industries such as manufacturing and retail. These capabilities include native support for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and AS2 as well as RFID. BizTalk Server 2006 R2 features close alignment with the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Windows Vista, including key .NET Framework technologies such as Windows Workflow Foundation and Windows Communication Foundation.
Enterprise Edition
This edition is ideal for enterprise customers and large organisations looking for an advanced BPM and SOA platform with unlimited scalability. It now includes BizTalk adapters and accelerators, Microsoft Host Integration Server (HIS), RFID, and EDI in the box.

Standard Edition
This edition is a comprehensive BPM and SOA solution for midsize businesses or departmental solutions. It also includes BizTalk adapters and accelerators, HIS, RFID, and EDI in the box.

Branch Edition
This edition enables a true “hub and spoke" scenario when paired with the Enterprise Edition; Branch Edition will help organizations make
new intraorganisational and departmental connections for intelligent data and process sharing.

Developer Edition
Limited to designing, developing, and testing solutions, Developer Edition is the ideal solution for application development in preproduction environments.
