Microsoft Office Forms Server 2007 provides scalable, standards-based electronic forms solutions with enhanced security that can help your organisation to extend the reach of forms-driven business processes to anyone with a Web browser.

Office Forms Server 2007 is a new server offering in the Microsoft Office system. It is a standalone server that delivers new Microsoft Office InfoPath Forms Services, which is also available in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. This new technology uses server-based electronic forms to streamline business processes and make data collection, distribution, and integration more cost-effective than with paper-based forms.

Office Forms Server 2007 is valuable to businesspeople or IT professionals who need an efficient and flexible way to:

  • Collect data through forms inside and outside the firewall

  • Collect data from customers, suppliers, and partners to develop and maintain forms-driven business processes

  • Store information that they can then standardise, validate, and integrate with server systems.

  • Extend your reach to organisations that do not use Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 - with Office InfoPath Forms Services, users can fill out browser-capable forms sent over the Internet or mobile devices

  • Put Office InfoPath 2007 forms to work - in customer-facing, Internet Web site, or business process workflow applications

  • Deliver forms with a consistent user experience - Office InfoPath 2007 forms use built-in controls to deliver easy-to-use forms with predictable behavior, mouse-over tips, and built-in data validation. Office InfoPath Forms Services-based forms are network-friendly and minimise the time-consuming roundtrips usually necessary for data validation and calculations

  • Integrate your data with existing back-end systems - Office InfoPath Forms Services supports Web services standards for receiving data from and submitting data to multiple back-end systems

  • Avoid errors and repetitive work caused by inconsistent data - connect Office InfoPath 2007 forms data with back-end systems to provide business users with access to all related data. Smart forms can be prepopulated with data, which eliminates tedious data entry tasks and avoids data entry errors

  • Connect forms to workflow - design Office InfoPath 2007 forms to submit data automatically to a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services library or to a Web service. Then, connect business forms with Windows SharePoint Services or Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 workflow processes, providing a consistent user interface for structured business processes

  • Centralise control over who can create and publish forms - with Office InfoPath Forms Services, your organization can develop and deliver forms-based services more quickly and cost-effectively. Business users can design and deploy forms, but administrators retain control over who is permitted to publish forms to the server

  • Easily upgrade solutions that are already in place - with side-by-side form upgrades, administrators can deploy new versions of forms with no downtime

  • Create advanced forms solutions - Office InfoPath Forms Services supports managed code execution on the server, which provides headroom for software developers to add advanced business logic and specialised functionality to Office InfoPath 2007 form templates.
  • Extend data-gathering solutions to anyone with a browser

  • Streamline business processes and connect forms to multiple line-of-business applications

  • Centralise the management and control of your forms solutions

  • Reduce time spent filling out forms

  • Develop advanced forms functionality without coding

  • Validate data at the time of entry

  • Help business users develop their own forms

  • Rapidly deploy sustainable forms solutions

  • Capture common form information consistently

  • Access forms from mobile devices.
