Every time you start Total .NET SourceBook, the program automatically connects to FMS's unique Code WebService. New code, articles, and tips are automatically downloaded to your database. FMS developers are constantly adding new content to help you with .NET.

Built on .NET Technologies:
The Total .NET SourceBook Code Webservice is built on .NET XML Web Services. Using the latest techniques, FMS can offer new content to SourceBook users automatically. As long as you have an Internet connection, you can get new content as soon as it becomes available.

How it Works:
When you start Total .NET SourceBook, the program launches a background thread for its webservice client. It connects to a server at FMS and requests a list of new content as of the date you last downloaded. Once the new list is received and parsed, it is shown in the Total .NET SourceBook browser window. Press the [Download all new content] button and you're ready to go. New content is downloaded and added to your database automatically.

Trial Version

  • A 60-day Trial version of Total .NET SourceBook 1.0 (For VS.NET 2002), is available for download from Grey Matter's website. The Trial version of Total .NET SourceBook is designed to provide you with the opportunity to evaluate the product, and is for evaluation purposes only.

Please be aware of the following before you install or use the Trial version of Total .NET SourceBook:
  • The Trial version includes only a subset of the source code for the product. The retail version will contain significantly more source code in the FMS code database.
  • This Trial version will expire and cease to function 60 days after installation.
Total .NET SourceBook is licensed on a per developer basis. Each developer who uses the program must have a license.

Total .NET SourceBook has the following system requirements:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.
  • Approximately 5 MB Free Disk Space.
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows XP Professional, or Windows NT 4. Total .NET SourceBook is not supported under Windows 95, 98, or ME.
  • PC with a Pentium II-class processor, 450 MHz minimum. Pentium III-class processor, 800 MHZ recommended.
  • Minimum RAM requirements (more is always better):
  • Windows XP Professional: 160 megabytes (MB) of RAM
  • Windows 2000 Professional and Windows NT 4.0: 96 MB of RAM
  • Windows 2000 Server: 192 MB of RAM
