WinGKS is the first native implementation of the International GKS standard for two-dimensional graphics which has been specifically written and optimised for the Windows operating system. As the GKS interface is standardized, applications need minimal alteration before being compiled. In fact WinGKS makes it possible to port a fully functioning GKS application without any Windows specific programming, using the QuickWin or EasyWin models available with Microsoft and Borland compilers respectively.

WinGKS is a complete Level 2c implementation of the GKS standard. In addition to all the standard output functions it fully supports the GKS bundle concept, as well as segment storage. It supports the full range of logical input devices in all modes.

WinGKS supports multiple windows on the display and in principle any printer or plotter which has a Windows driver. Metafile input and output workstations are also provided for disk storage, and retrieval of graphical information in either binary or character encoding.

WinGKS provides a full set of GKS output primitives, including polylines, polymarkers, text, fill area and cell array.

The libraries may be used by any development environment capable of building a large model Windows application, and which obeys the C calling convention.
