Essential Chart is designed to be a powerful graph/chart generation tool. It supports a large variety of chart types and comes with an object-oriented API that is both powerful and easy to use.
Chart Data
Essential Chart can handle data in different ways. You can simply add the data points to a series and let the Chart manage it. Or, for easier data-binding to a DataSet, use the built-in *ChartDataBindModel* and specify the column names containing the X and Y values. For even more flexibility, you can implement the simple *IChartSeriesModel* interface and plug-in your own custom model.
Chart Types
Essential Chart offers more than 35 chart types ranging from simple Column charts to complex Financial charts, all of which can be easily configured to suit users needs. Charts can also be rendered in 3D mode, except for the Radar and Polar Charts.
Visual Appearance
The Chart's visual appearance can be customised, by setting the properties for individual chart elements. The rich styles architecture, available for the ChartControl, provides formatting options in point level as well as series level. It also defines the manner in which, individual settings are inherited. The optimised data store, available for the same, stores data only as needed.
Axes Features
The ChartControl by default comes with the primary axes - X and Y. The ChartControl framework also provides complete support for the inclusion of multiple X and Y axes.
Visual Elements
A Chart Legend which is a symbol based caption is rendered for each series in chart, by default. There is also support for adding custom legends. There is also plenty of look and feel customisation options. The chart title can also be fully customised, including but not limited to the font, color, size, position and alignment
Export
Essential Chart supports exporting of the chart control into various formats. Users can also print the chart data.
User Interaction
User interaction adds to the appeal of any control. Keeping this in mind the ChartControl has been designed to be completely user - friendly and easily applicable for user interactions.
Series Data And Style Manipulation
The ChartControl comes with a rich styles architecture, which separates the display styles from the data model, providing flexibility in the appearance definition for each display element. Styles form the core of the Chart Control, in providing extensive customisation. They can be inherited from parent charts, making complex formatting relatively easy.
