Ektron eMPower is a full-featured Web authoring and publishing system enabling business users to author their own Web content while reducing cost, decreasing time to update, and automating Web content publishing workflow. For Web sites and intranets running on the Macromedia ColdFusion platform.

Component-based content management solutions: Designed to be a "building block", Ektron eMPower can be easily integrated into your site—even if your site uses complicated business logic, or other third party components like e-commerce and personalization. Because this solution use a component-based approach, we don't get in the way of your integration. This gives you the ability to add your own dynamic ColdFusion code, or any special business logic programming.

Uses a browser-based framework: Your Web site is the user interface—allowing “anytime-anywhere" publishing.

Virtual staging server: Users with approval permissions can review content changes before the content is published live to the site.

Administrators control all aspects of the system: Including the look and feel and user privileges.

Familiar and intuitive user interface for business users: Graphical interface and Word-like editor— Ektron eWebEditPro—is intuitive and easy to use for business users.

Document check-in, check-out with color-coded content blocks: The color of the border around the content block is set by the content status: green = published, yellow = pending approval, red = checked out. This ensures content blocks can be edited only by one user at a time.

Macromedia Extension Support: Ektron eMPower tags are wrapped in XML so they can be repositioned within programs such as Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Advanced cascading style sheet support: The site administrator can easily manage the site using Ektron eMPower and style sheets (CSS). In addition, style classes can be applied to content within the editor (Ektron eWebEditPro). Style sheets store presentation information about the content in a separate file. To learn more, read Advantages of using style sheets to separate content from style.

File uploading: Upload any kind of file, graphic, or data. File types allowed to be uploaded can be designated by the Web site administrator.

Content history tracking: View or restore any previously published version of a content block.

Multi-database Support: eMPower includes utilities to fully exploit the power of Microsoft SQL server (version 7.0 and 2000), MS Access, MySQL, Sybase, and Oracle (CF 4.51 SP2 or greater).

Macromedia ColdFusion MX server support — New with Ektron eMPower 3.7!

JavaScript Syndication: Dynamic content can be created within eMPower and can be displayed in a HTML Web site by using a script tag.

Display tag: Makes it possible for any information in the eMPower database to be displayed maintenance-free and with any HTML/CSS formatting imaginable.

Dynamically create a navigation menu: The display tag lets business users—rather than the Web developer—maintain a dynamic navigation menu. Once this tag is added to the Web template by the developer, the title of each content block becomes a navigation link easily maintained by business users.

Extending the API to build dynamically-generated DHTML menus: Developers can easily build advanced navigation by extending the existing functionality provided by the display tag. Ektron eMPower provides an API so developers can interact directly with the content management solution. There are hundreds of examples of DHTML menus which can be easily customized into your site using this tag.

Advanced navigation made easy with Macromedia Flash MX and Ektron eMPower: Macromedia's newest version of Flash—called Flash MX—has many new features. The most exciting feature is advanced navigation. With Flash MX, the business logic that builds the navigation can be dynamic. Navigation and content management are the two building blocks needed to build a Web site—Ektron eMPower to manage the content and Macromedia Flash MX to create the advanced navigation.

Quick integration: Because integration takes days not months, Web developers save time and reduce headaches.

Advanced Web publishing: Including scheduling of content, content syndication, virtual staging server, ability to restore previous content.

Multi-database support: Includes Microsoft SQL, MS Access, MySQL, Oracle, and Sybase support.

Popular platform: Runs on the popular and easy-to-use Macromedia ColdFusion and ColdFusion MX platforms.

Dynamically generated navigation: Using the display tag, developers can enable business users to maintain the navigation menu.

Affordable: Ektron eMPower is one of the most cost- effective content management solutions on the market today for Macromedia ColdFusion.
