Full integration with Windows Explorer
You can now protect, unprotect, securely delete files, create secure text, logon and logoff from your keystore and access FAOPGP's Key Manager and Default Settings straight from Windows Explorer. The FAOPGP GUI is still available for those that prefer this method of operation.
Secure Archives
Multiple files can be protected in a secure archive. This creates a single .zip file that contains the protected files. The .zip file can be uncompressed (contents extracted) using PKZIP, WinZip or compatible software so that recipients using any OpenPGP compliant software can successfully unprotect the files inside the archive.
Secure Text Editor
Text can be created or pasted into the secure text editor window for use in email, IM messages or any other application. Secure text is automatically copied to the Windows clipboard and / or copied into your default email application.
Secure Email
Secure message text is now supported and is automatically inserted into your default email application. Files can be encrypted, digitally signed, archived and emailed (+ the option of adding secure message text) in one simple operation. (Previously it took two separate operations to email secured files.)
When emailing secured files and secure message text the email address is automatically filled in for you - this is taken from the recipient's public keys.
Unprotection of Multiple Files
Multiple single files can now be unprotected (decrypted/verified). This feature is available from Windows Explorer by selecting multiple protected files and then choosing the Unprotect option from the FileAssurity OpenPGP menu. Archives can also be used to achieve this.
Group Support
Users can be allocated into groups and groups selected for encryption rather than individual users.
Support of PGP v5.x and v6.x keys for encryption
You can now send encrypted files to PGP v5.x and 6.x users. FA OpenPGP automatically works out the encryption algorithm to use by picking this information up from the recipients public key.
Encryption Algorithms
- AES. Key strength 256 bit (FIPS Pub 197)
- CAST, 3DES and TwoFish are supported in for PGP v5.x and PGP v6.x compatibility
Digital Signature Algorithms
- RSA. Key strength 2048 bit
- DH/DSS. Key strength 2048/1024 bit
- Supports any key length for imported keys - a minimum RSA key length of 1024 bits is required for encrypting files
Hashing Algorithms
- SHA-1. Key strength 160 bit
- MD5 128 bit is supported for imported keys
Secure File Deletion
- Files are deleted beyond US Government DOD standard 5220.22-M
- FileAssurity performs 27 write and wipe operations to ensure your files cannot be recovered
- Additional measures are used to prevent dedicated file restoration programs recovering your files
Digital Certificate formats supported
- .P7B (PKCS#7)
- .PEM
- .CER (DER & Base 64)
