The Network Performance Monitor-PME (Project Management Edition) management pack is a paid upgrade to Engineer’s Edition that allows NPM to use a SQL database and support the management of multiple projects/databases.

Network Performance Monitoring Tools

The SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor can monitor and alert on Availability, Bandwidth Utilization, CPU Load, Memory and Disk Space utilization on hundreds of network elements. It even includes custom alerting that sends a scripted message to your digital phone when a outage or performance threshold is triggered. The Real Time Bandwidth Gauge application now provides auto-publish to the web and historical graphing. The SNMP Graph can monitor any SNMP managed device. The Real-Time Interface Monitor can display many statistics from Routers and Switches simultaneously. The Advanced CPU Load can monitor the real-time load on routers while the CPU Gauge displays a single switch, server or router's CPU performance.

Tools for Cisco Routers
The SolarWinds Engineer's Edition Toolset contains several tools specifically designed to provide a simple graphical interface for management of your Cisco Routers. From the Config Downloader to the Config Uploader to the Config Editor/Viewer this toolset makes managing router Configs much easier. View Running vs. Startup Configs on your remote Cisco routers. The Advanced CPU Load monitors and shows real-time load on routers. Other tools included are: Proxy Ping, Router Password Decryption, Router Security Check, Configuration Management and CPU Gauge.
Fault Monitoring Tools
The Network Monitor is a fully interactive management application that monitors selected devices and send alerts on outage conditions. Another handy tool is the Watch It! utility which keeps a thumb on the pulse of a network. A very nice Syslog Server is also included in this suite of tools.
Email Management Tools
DNS Blacklists are a popular tool used by e-mail administrators to help block reception of SPAM into their mail systems. By configuring mail servers to consult DNS Blacklists before accepting an email message, e-mail administrators can block a large percentage of incoming SPAM. SolarWinds.Net Spam Blacklist allows testing of IP addresses of mail servers and verifying that the mail servers have not been blacklisted.
MIB Browser Tools
In addition to a vast collection of basic networking tools this Networking Toolset includes a very powerful MIB Browser with over 220,000 precompiled OID's. With this MIB Browser an engineer can query any remote device for software and hardware configurations via SNMP. It will walk a MIB tree with the MIB Walk utility. Update System MIBs and MIB Viewer not only view MIB details but modify them remotely. The SNMP Graph utility can remotely graph and monitor any MIB.
Security & Attack Tools
The advanced security tools not only test internet security with the SNMP Brute Force Attack and Dictionary Attack utilities but also validate the security on Cisco Routers with the Router Security Check. The Remote TCP Reset remotely display all active sessions on a device and the Password Decryption can decrypt Type 7 Cisco Passwords. The Port Scanner allows testing for open TCP ports across IP Address and port ranges or selection of specific machines and ports.
SNMP Trap Tools
The SolarWinds Trap Receiver is used to receive, log, and view SNMP traps. The SolarWinds Trap Editor is used to modify SNMP Trap Templates used by SolarWinds Network Management Tools.

The Solarwinds Engineer's Edition Toolset includes many utilities for managing the day-to-day operation of your network. These are not basic normal tools. Tools included are: IP Address Management, DHCP Scope Monitor, Advanced Subnet Calculator, DNS / WhoIs Resolver, DNS Analyzer and DNS Audit.
Miscellaneous Tools
A couple tools included in the Engineer's Edition Toolset don't fall into a specific category and have been labeled as "Miscellaneous". These additional tools are unique and are far from trivial. The SolarWinds TFTP Server is the ONLY multi-threaded TFTP Server available and the WAN Killer is a very useful traffic generator for loading and testing networks.
