Monarch is a unique and easy-to-use data access and analysis software tool which provides you with a fast, convenient way of exploiting corporate information. Routine tasks which take days, can be finished in hours.

The data most people need is already found in reports. Just download a report file (it doesn't matter how, when or where it was created) and input it into Monarch where it is displayed as live data on your screen. Select the data you want to extract; explore and manipulate it and create your own custom report! No more wading through reams of computer printouts; spending hours rekeying data or asking your IT department to produce special reports.

Monarch can display reports on screen with the same look and feel as hard copy print outs - you can zoom, scroll, page, jump and even turn on a greenbar display. Once you have utilised filter commands to extract pertinent data, you can create custom reports, including charts and graphs, in a variety of formats and send formatted data to your spreadsheet, database and other desktop applications.

Monarch 9 introduces a large number of features, focusing heavily on Excel. Monarch 9 Pro also includes Linked Objects, an extremely powerful way of sharing elements of model files, such as templates, filters, calculated fields and summary.

New to Monarch Pro:

  • Linking Objects - Monarch 9 lets you import and link various "objects" (e.g., templates, filters, calculated fields, etc) in the local model to objects in an external model.
  • PDF Improvements - You can now import data from AES-encrypted PDF files. Improvements have also been made to the PDF importing, based on customer feedback.
  • Import Using OLE DB - Monarch now uses OLE DB to import (or perform external lookups) from SQL data sources, such as Access files, SQL Server, Oracle and DB2. This new engine offers increased performance versus the ODBC import capability of previous versions. You can still use ODBC to connect to your data sources as before, but moving to an OLE DB provider will bring performance benefits. You should even realize a performance benefit from your existing ODBC connections, with Monarch using OLE DB behind the scenes.
  • Import OpenXML Spreadsheets - With the introduction of the new V9 Excel Export engine, you can now import the new Office 2007 OpenXML Spreadsheet format (xlsx). This new format, introduced in Office 2007, allows up to a million rows.
  • Enhanced Database Filters - When you are importing or performing an external lookup to a database source (including delimited text) you now have various Monarch functions at your disposal, including many date-related functions. Note that for SQL sources, the new functions are only supported for Jet Database supported types, including Excel and Access, SQL Server, Oracle and DB2.
  • Import Multiple Delimited Text Files - Similar to Monarch's functionality with multiple reports, you can now open multiple delimited text files concurrently, as long as they all use the same model.
  • Import Excel Files with No Header Row - Previously, Monarch could not open Excel files which lacked a header row. There is now an option to select this, both when importing XLS and Office 2007 OpenXML XLSX files.
  • Ability to force Data Types to Character - It is now possible to change the data type of an imported field to character, allowing numerics which are too large for Monarch to handle to be fully displayed and exported.
  • Replace Nulls on Import - There is a new option on the Import Columns screen to force the conversion of null values to default values when importing. The default values are empty strings for character fields, zeros for numeric fields and a date of 1/1/1970 for date fields.
  • Multi-Select Project Exports - It is now possible to select a list of specific project exports to run using Ctrl+click and Shift+click.
